Everybody's Somebody In Luckenbach.
Luckenbach, Texas is an unincorporated community in southeastern Gillespie County located on the banks of Grape Creek. Founded in 1849, Luckenbach was one of the few community trading posts that never broke a peace treaty with the area Comanche Indians.
Another interesting thing to note is that Luckenbach means Gap Creek in German and that nearby Grape Creek was supposed to be named Gap Creek, but someone misspelled the creek's name.
The town sold for $30,000 in 1970, and in 1973 Jerry Jeff Walker recorded Viva Terlingua at the dance hall, which solidified Luckenbach as a mainstay for country musicians. Today Luckenbach, Texas is best known as a place to experience country music.
