Beaukiss, Texas is located in Williamson County approximately 1 mile from the Lee County line and was founded in 1880 on Middle Yegua Creek by Samuel M. Slaughter.
Post Oak Island Beaukiss Lodge No. 181
Chartered in 1856, this is the Lodge's third location and it was built in 1909 according to a Taylor Daily Press newspaper article from Christmas 1949.
Previously the Lodge was located, first, in Post Oak Island and, second, in Lawhon Springs. Those locations shared much of the same original building that had been disassembled and moved when the railroad came to the area but did not go through Post Oak Island.

Yes, that's an outhouse in the background - glad you noticed it. 😌
There's actually a plaque inside it that reads:
The Dud Morris Memorial Comfort Station
Erected Juneteenth 2014
Beaukiss Community Church
This building is actually an old schoolhouse that closed in 1947 and it's featured in the Old Churches 6-Pack of Prints. (By the way, when you buy a 6-Pack from Old Sad Songs you get a 6 Prints for the price of 5 and free shipping!)
Beaukiss, Texas is a place where the Masonic Lodge has more members than the town has residents and although the school closed in 1947, the school house still stands and functions as a church today.
